A holiday of the Sarenrae faithful traditionally observed on the winter’s solstice. Originally observed on the solstice of the planet Golarion, in post gap times the holiday is generally observed on the winter solstice of the planet upon which the faithful reside. On Absalom station the holiday is celebrated on the day scholars believe would be Golarion’s solstice (although it is impossible to determine the exact date given the lack of reliable records during the Gap with with which to calculate where Golarion would be in its orbit). It serves as a reminder that even during the sun’s weakest day the power of Sarenrae to heal and redeem is still with her faithful.
In most human cultures, children are able to declare themselves members of the church on the first Candlemark following their fifteenth birthday.
Celebrations vary based on personal tradition. Some hold feasts, some spend the day in prayer, and others go on a pilgrimage. Those who are redeemed evil folk find the holiday particularly meaningful.
The day is also seen as a time to look forward to the longer days ahead.
